PH Stocks Recover as Investors Take Position

Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks were up Monday, 6 January, as investors start pick up bargain stocks after last Friday’s profit taking.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) ended the trading day 0.64% or 37.88 points higher – regaining its losses last week – to 5,985.81.

All counters are back in the green, led by the Mining and Oil sector, which posted a 1.05% gain after surging by 5.12% last week. The Industrials increased by 0.92%, while the Holding Firms index went up by 0.8%. The All-Shares index edged higher by 0.62%.

Trading, however, was slow. Value turnover reached PhP4.9 billion on 980 million shares traded, with foreign buying reaching PhP2.61 billion and foreign selling, PhP3.11 billion. There were 97 gainers today compared to 59 losers, while 39 stocks were flat.
