PH Stocks Hit Best Finish So Far in 2014

Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks closed today’s trading on a record high for the year so far as investors buy into the market on improved macroeconomic outlook.

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) gained 0.61% or 41.47 points to close today’s trading at 6,852.81 – the highest mark yet achieved this year. This on the back of the ratings upgrade by global credit ratings agency Standard and Poor’s (S&P) for the country last week.

Except for the Financials, which slid by 0.26%, all counters ended in green, led by the Mining & Oil sector, which rose by 1.56%. The Holding Firms segment went up by 1.03%, while the Property sector gained 0.94%. The wider All Shares index increased by 0.74%.

Volume turnover reached 1.8 billion shares valued at PhP9.7 billion. Foreign buying totaled PhP4.56 billion, while foreign selling reached PhP4.42 billion. There were 126 gainers against 61 losers, while 38 stocks were flat.
