Downtrend Persists

Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks failed to reverse the declines amid continued profit taking in the market.

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) dropped by 0.52% or 36.12 points to close this week’s trading at 6,901.09.

All counters are in the red, but declines are however minimal. The Holding Firms segment slid by 0.76% while the Property fell by 0.57%. The Financials shed 0.55%.

Trading was heavy, with volumes reaching 44.79 billion, valued at PhP15.4 billion. There were 67 gainers against 109 losers, while 51 stocks were flat. Foreign buying reached PhP10.45 billion and foreign selling totaled PhP11.15 billion.
