PH Stocks Marginally Down
Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks closed nearly flat at the first trading day of the Year of the Water Snake, but not before touching 6,500 during the session. The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) went down by 0.01% or 0.66pts to 6,458.01 – a situation considered by many investors as a “correction” in the market.
On a sectoral basis, only the Services and Property indices went down, while the Mining and Oil segment led the gainers by closing the trading day with a 0.54% increase.
Overall, trading was a bit thin today, with only about 1.81 billion shares traded. Value turnover reached PhP5.88 billion. There were 83 gainers against 81 decliners, while 48 stocks remained flat.
