PH Stocks End Lower on Profit Taking, Keep Hold at 6500
Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks succumbed to profit taking on Thursday as investors cash in on their gains after the local bourse hit a new historic high the previous day. Despite losing 0.22% or 14.58pts to close the day at 6,513.41, the mainboard Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) still kept its foothold at the 6,500 mark. Incidentally, the PSE website, www.pse.com.ph, was also bogged down with server problems throughout the day; with the website mostly loading really slowly, or sometimes not loading at all.
Except for the Industrials and the Property indices, all remaining counters were down, led by the Mining and Oil sector, which lost 1.64% amid reports of an accident at Semirara Mining Corp.’s (PSE: SCC) coal site.
Turnover value reached about PhP7.93 billion on 2.79 billion traded shares. There were 72 gainers against 84 decliners, while 56 stocks remained flat.
