PH Stocks Down on Profit Taking
Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks fell on profit taking Friday, 4 April, after a week of strong gains. The mainboard Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) shed 0.39% or 25.88 points to close the week at 6,561.2. This week also marked the first time in five months that the local stock market reached its peak.
Despite the sell-off, the Industrial and Mining and Oil indices held their ground, gaining 0.26% and 0.09%, respectively. The losers, meanwhile, were led by the Services sector, which dropped by 0.94%. The Financials, Holding Firms, and Property sectors were all down by a third of a percent.
Value turnover reached PhP7.96 billion while volume reached 2 billion shares. Foreign buying totaled PhP3.86 billion, compared to foreign selling of PhP3.42 billion, for a net foreign inflow of around PhP440 million. There were 89 winners against 70 decliners, while 49 stocks were flat.
