GMA Network Shifts to Cloud-Based IP Distribution Through Partnership with Synamedia and Telered
Leading broadcaster GMA Network is modernizing its international operations by transitioning from satellite to cloud-based IP distribution, in partnership with global video technology firm Synamedia and local partner Telered Technologies and Services Corp. The move strengthens operational efficiency, reduces costs, and establishes a benchmark for modern broadcasting.
Under the agreement, GMA Network leverages Synamedia’s Quortex Link platform to deliver its international channels—GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV, and GMA News TV—with improved reliability, scalability, and viewing quality. The partnership enables GMA to expand into new markets efficiently while ensuring Filipino audiences worldwide enjoy a seamless experience. The contract signing took place on December 16 at the GMA Network Center, with representatives from all three companies in attendance.
Joseph Francia, First Vice President and Head of GMA International Operations, highlighted the operational benefits: “Moving from satellite to IP has allowed us to significantly cut costs and streamline our workflows. With Synamedia’s technology and Telered’s expertise, we’ve simplified operations and improved efficiency across the board.” Ari Chio, First VP for Administration and Investor Relations, added that the transition ensures GMA’s long-term sustainability and resilience in an increasingly digital landscape.
Synamedia and Telered executives emphasized GMA’s role as a model for broadcasters adopting IP distribution. Vince Matherne, VP of Global Sales for Video Network at Synamedia, said, “GMA is a textbook example of how a local broadcaster can lead industry transformation by embracing cloud-based solutions.” Chris Mauricio, Telered VP for Sales and Business Development, noted, “Our collaboration elevates Filipino content and broadens access for millions of viewers worldwide.”
GMA’s IP migration began in 2023 with the Middle East and North Africa, expanded to Asia-Pacific in 2024, and is now extending to the United States and Canada. The transition underscores the Network’s commitment to digital innovation and its goal of connecting Filipinos globally while maintaining a high-quality viewing experience. Elke Hungenaert, VP of Product Management at Synamedia, added, “GMA provides a blueprint for broadcasters transitioning from satellite to IP, unlocking new revenue opportunities and operational agility while delivering a first-class experience to viewers worldwide.”
This strategic shift positions GMA Network at the forefront of modern broadcast technology and sets a new standard for global content distribution.
