Globe Boosts Capabilities with Data Center Expansion

GLOMakati—(PHStocks)—Further strengthening its resolve to deliver world-class services via a Tier-grade data facility to its growing number of enterprise clients, Globe Telecom Inc.‘s (PSE: GLO) business solutions division Globe Business announced the expansion of its flagship MK2 data center, following its formal ground-breaking in October 2012.

According to Head of Service Operations Maximo Bernales Jr., the completed and already operational expansion facility doubles MK2’s capacity. This effectively increases Globe Business’ current overall data center size, making it one of the largest in the country.

Bernales said that having state-of-the-art and best-in class features, our purposely-built data center is at par with its global contemporaries. It has redundant power and cooling through Building Management System (BMS) integration for the generator set, uninterrupted power supply and precision air conditioning units.

“A down blast of cold air underneath the raised floors separates hot and cold aisles in-between the racks,” says Bernales. “In terms of safety, cable trays isolate power and data cables. Fire suppression systems and smoke detectors are in place, supported by closed-circuit TV network and BMS systems 24/7. Security is fortified with steel doors, card readers, door sensors, anti-tailgating and hand keys in the mantrap facility. Access-wise, a link-way from the old building serves as entry and exit points to the expansion areas.”

Bernales likewise confirms that “the entire infrastructure, adherent to the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) 942 Tier III standards, which is able to provide world-class data center service for our clientele both existing and new.” All Globe Business data centers, which are strategically located in Makati City, Mandaluyong City, Quezon City, Cebu City and the upcoming facility in Cavite which is soon to be operational, are all backed-up by three global industry certifications: ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management System, ISO 27001:2005 for Information Security Management System and BS 25999:2007 for Business Continuity Management System. The data center is also distinguished with the ISO 20000-1:2011 certification for IT Service Management System. With Globe being the first to earn these accreditations, they assure customers that their service requirements will be fulfilled.

Being the premier data center in the country, Head of Globe Business Jesus Romero said “more than the highly-advanced physical and technical features, it’s actually the highest level of security, stability and peace-of-mind for a company’s data that we put on the table for our enterprise customers and the industry as a whole both locally and in the global setting.”

“As trailblazers of innovation, we at Globe Business continue to push the frontiers of technology forward, with our new data center as a testament of that fact. We recognize the increasing demand for data center and cloud services in the country. We are more than ready to meet the computing challenges of companies now and in the future,” Romero affirms.
