Asean Reinsurance Working Committee Holds Meeting in Manila

The ASEAN Reinsurance Working Committee of the ASEAN Insurance Council held its second meeting last July 11, 2019 in Manila, Philippines. The discussions of the Committee, composed of executives from reinsurance companies in the ASEAN region, centered around reinsurance regulations and issues in the different member nations, non-life insurance and reinsurance taxes, reinsurance pooling, and reinsurance education and talent development. Nat Re CEO Allan Santos is the Committee’s Chairman while Thai Re CEO Oran Vongsuraphichet is its Vice Chairman.

In attendance were (L to R) Guy Apovy (CEO of Allianz Gen Laos and Advisor to the Lao Insurance Association), Dao Manh Duong (Marketing Manager of ViNaRe), Ornsutee Kunanansak (Vice President of Customer Solutions of Thai Re), Anil Sant (President/CEO of Asian Reinsurance Corporation), Oran Vongsuraphichet (CEO of Thai Re), Allan Santos (CEO of Nat Re), Leonard Arokiam (Vice President and Chief Underwriter of Business Region 4 of Malaysian Re), Zainudin Ishak (President/CEO of Malaysian Re), Mervyn Low (General Manager of Operations of Singapore Re), Theresa Wee (Chief Executive of Singapore Re), Ty Atith (Operation Director of Cambodian Re), Michael Rellosa (Executive Director of the Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association and Chairman of the ASEAN Insurance Council Education Committee), and Sandy Reyes (Head of Non-life Reinsurance of Nat Re).
