PSE, DBP Partner to Educate SMEs on Financing, Stock Market Investing

The Philippine Stock Exchange Inc. (PSE) has teamed up with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) to educate small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on alternative financing and investing in the stock market.

The joint activity, which is a free listing forum for the owners and key officers of SMEs, forms part of the PSE’s marketing efforts to promote the stock market and is also part of the awareness campaign of the DBP on alternative financing.

“SMEs are the building blocks of a national economy and are the agents of positive change towards establishing the financial independence and development of the Filipino people. Together with the DBP as our partner, we continue to support the growth of SMEs towards the development of a bigger and brighter capital market,” PSE President and Chief Executive Officer Hans B. Sicat said.

The joint forum entitled “SME Listing in the Philippine Stock Exchange” will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the DBP Bulwagang Diwang Pilipino, DBP Building, Makati City.

The speakers for the forum are Securities and Exchange Commission Director Justina Callangan from the Corporation Finance Department ; Leonardo Arguelles Jr., President of Unicapital Securities Inc.; Dennis Uy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. (PSE: PNX); and other experts from SGV & Co. and Villaraza Cruz Marcelo and Angangco law firm. The experts will be joining the PSE to discuss the advantages of public listing, factors that determine the readiness of a corporation to list in the stock exchange, and the various ways by which corporations may list their shares on the PSE.
