ACEN Expands Northern Luzon Renewable Portfolio with Pangasinan Solar Facility
ACEN is strengthening its presence in Northern Luzon with the development of San Manuel Solar, its first solar power project in Pangasinan, marking another milestone in the company’s efforts to advance the Philippines’ transition to a low-carbon and sustainable energy future.
San Manuel Solar forms part of ACEN’s strategic expansion in the region following its acquisition of Sinocalan Solar Power Corp. in December 2022. The transaction paved the way for the development of the 60-megawatt solar facility in San Manuel, Pangasinan, which now stands as a key component of ACEN’s growing renewable energy portfolio in Northern Luzon—an area with strong potential to support the country’s clean energy ambitions.
The project is equipped with 108,752 solar panels and is expected to generate approximately 94 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually. This output is sufficient to power around 55,000 households each year and is projected to avoid more than 58,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, contributing to national climate objectives while enhancing energy security in Luzon.
San Manuel Solar utilizes ground-mounted photovoltaic technology and is directly connected to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines through a dedicated 1.8-kilometer transmission line linked to the 69-kilovolt San Manuel Substation. This infrastructure ensures the efficient and reliable delivery of clean energy to the national grid.
Beyond power generation, ACEN continues to prioritize inclusive growth and community development. Through its Brigada Eskwela and Brigada Pagbasa initiatives, implemented in partnership with the Department of Education, the company has supported the refurbishment of local schools, provided essential learning materials, and strengthened literacy programs in Pangasinan—underscoring its commitment to empowering host communities alongside its renewable energy investments.
San Manuel Solar further reinforces ACEN’s role in supporting the Philippine government’s target of increasing the share of renewable energy to 35% of the country’s power generation mix by 2030. As ACEN continues to scale its clean energy projects across Northern Luzon and other regions, the company remains focused on enabling a just, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition for the Philippines.
