PH Stocks Extend Gains on US Rebound
Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks were up for the third straight session Tuesday, 17 December, as investors continue to take position amid the downtrend last week and a strong rally in US stocks.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) closed at 5,928.99, up by 2%. All counters were in the green, led by the Industrials, which gained 2.83%. The Financials followed with a 2.32% gain, while the Holding Firms segment posted a 2.3% increase. The Mining and Oil segment, which shed 1.88% yesterday (16 December), recovered today, edging higher by 1%.
Trading was slightly heavy today, with value turnover reaching PhP9.3 billion on 898 million traded shares. There were 105 gainers against 52 losers, while 40 stocks remained flat.
