PH Stocks End Higher

Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks finished the first day of this week’s trading in the green, as investors scoop up stocks amid strong corporate financial results.

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index went up by 0.17% to 7,229.72, buoyed by strong gains of First Gen Corp. (PSE: FGEN) (+3.28%) and GT Capital Holdings Inc. (PSE: GTCAP) (+1.68%), Jollibee Foods Corp.  (PSE: JFC) (+1.44%) and Energy Development Corp. (PSE: EDC) (+1.23%).

All counters are in the green, led by the Mining and Oil index, which gained 0.64%. The Industrials, meanwhile, went up by 0.38%.

Total volume reached 2.75 billion, valued at PhP6.16 billion. Foreign buying reached PhP2.63 billion, while foreign selling totaled PhP2.42 billion, for a net foreign inflow of PhP210 million. There were 72 gainers against 96 losers, while 50 stocks were flat.
