Schneider Electric Powers Cavite Manufacturing Sites with 100% Renewable Energy Through ACEN RES
Schneider Electric, through its subsidiary American Power Conversion (APC), has transitioned five of its manufacturing facilities in the Cavite Economic Zone to 100% renewable energy, marking a significant milestone in the company’s sustainability and decarbonization efforts in the Philippines.
The shift was enabled through a renewable energy supply agreement with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), the retail electricity arm of the Ayala group, under the Philippine government’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP). Established by the Department of Energy, the GEOP allows qualified electricity consumers with an average monthly demand of at least 100 kilowatts to directly source power from renewable energy providers, supporting corporate sustainability goals while promoting cleaner energy adoption. ACEN RES currently leads the GEOP market, accounting for 57% of total participation.
The five Cavite facilities—primarily engaged in semiconductor manufacturing—began operating entirely on renewable energy in December 2025. The agreement covers both office and production sites and is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 11,600 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) annually.
“This collaboration sets in motion our transition to 100% renewable energy at the Cavite Smart Factory—a bold stride in our journey toward Net Zero,” said Antonio Cheng Jr., Plant Director for the Cavite Cluster of Schneider Electric Philippines, Inc. He noted that the facility is poised to become the first manufacturing site within a government eco-zone in Luzon, and the first Schneider Electric factory in East Asia, to operate fully on renewable energy. “This milestone underscores our commitment to climate action and positions the Philippines as a regional leader in sustainable industrial transformation,” Cheng added.
Eric Francia, President and CEO of ACEN, said the partnership highlights the role of major global manufacturers in accelerating the country’s energy transition. “By shifting complex industrial operations to 100% renewable energy, Schneider Electric demonstrates that decarbonization is practical, scalable, and achievable today,” Francia said.
The initiative supports national objectives for industrial sustainability while reinforcing Schneider Electric’s global climate commitments. By sourcing renewable energy for its Cavite operations, the company further strengthens its environmental stewardship and signals its dedication to long-term, sustainable growth to stakeholders.
