Megaworld Raises 2026 Capital Expenditure to ₱65 Billion to Accelerate Provincial Township Growth

Megaworld Corp. is increasing its capital spending to ₱65 billion in 2026, underscoring a strategic push to expand its township developments beyond Metro Manila. The investment will be allocated to land acquisition, strategic land banking, and the continued development of existing projects and high-value investment properties, as the company capitalizes on rising growth opportunities in key provincial markets. Initial land development activities this year will focus on major township projects, including Ilocandia Coastown in Ilocos Norte, The Upper Central in Cagayan de Oro City, and Nascala Coast in Nasugbu, Batangas.

The company is also scaling up its residential, office, and retail footprint across townships in Bacolod, Iloilo, Pampanga, Cavite, and Palawan, supporting future asset infusions for MREIT, Inc., Megaworld’s real estate investment trust. According to Megaworld President and CEO Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, the group sees sustained momentum across the office, commercial, hospitality, and tourism sectors, while its residential business remains a key growth driver—particularly with the rollout of technology-enabled developments integrating artificial intelligence. This year, Megaworld plans to launch 19 residential projects valued at ₱65 billion across multiple locations nationwide.

Complementing its property pipeline, Megaworld is accelerating its hospitality expansion with five hotels currently under construction, adding nearly 2,000 rooms to its portfolio as it targets over 9,000 room keys within three years. The expansion builds on the company’s recent announcement of its 37th township, The Sugartown, a 97-hectare development in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, reinforcing Megaworld’s long-term commitment to township-led growth in the provinces.
