DMCI Mining Achieves Record Nickel Production in 2025, Advances Long Point Development

DMCI Mining Corporation posted its strongest production performance to date in 2025, reflecting expanded operations in Zambales and the initial ramp-up of its Long Point mine. The emerging nickel producer reported record output of 2.0 million wet metric tons (WMT) of nickel ore during the year, representing a 33% increase from 1.5 million WMT in 2024. Shipments also climbed 31% to 1.9 million WMT, marking the company’s second-highest shipment level on record.

The production surge was largely attributed to higher ore volumes from its Zambales sites, complemented by the early-stage operations of Long Point, which began contributing to total output during the year. According to Tulsi Das C. Reyes, President of DMCI Mining, the company is benefiting from improving industry conditions following a challenging period for global nickel markets. He noted that record production levels, firmer prices, and progress in new developments position the company for sustained growth while supporting host communities.

Market conditions also provided a tailwind. The average benchmark Philippine FOB price for 1.5% grade laterite nickel ore rose 26% year-on-year, increasing from USD 36.3 to USD 45.7, reinforcing revenue potential amid higher output.

Beyond operational milestones, DMCI Mining continued to advance its environmental and sustainability commitments. Subsidiary Berong Nickel Corporation has rehabilitated more than 174 hectares under the country’s first approved Final Mine Rehabilitation and Decommissioning Plan (FMRDP) for a nickel mine—surpassing its third-year targets. The rehabilitation program remains on track for completion by 2027, after which the restored site will be formally turned over to the government.

In recognition of its responsible mining practices, Zambales Diversified Mining Corporation, another subsidiary, received its second Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award in November. The accolade highlights the group’s continued focus on environmental stewardship, operational safety, and alignment with the government’s sustainability agenda.

A wholly owned subsidiary of DMCI Holdings, Inc., DMCI Mining extracts nickel ore through surface mining and supplies markets in China and other countries. Its portfolio includes Berong Nickel Corporation in Palawan, as well as operations in Zambales under Zambales Diversified Mining Corporation and Zambales Chromite Mining Company.
