Tetangco Urges Thrift Banks to Focus on Niche Market
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando Tetangco Jr. has urged thrift and development banks to focus on their niche market, rather than compete with commercial and rural banks.
Speaking at the recent annual convention of the Chamber of Thrift Banks (CTB), Tetangco said thrift banks are too small to challenge the fewer but bigger commercial banks, but too big to compete with smaller but more numerous rural banks.
