STI Partners TATA to Go Global

Makati—(PHStocks)—Aiming to deliver specialization through application-oriented courses to STI students, TATA Consultancy Service (TCS) entered into a partnership with STI Education Services Group Inc. (PSE: STI). The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed on August 13, 2014 at Bench Tower in Crescent Park West, Bonifacio Global City.

The agreement will work towards training students taking business-related courses in STI to be ready to take on jobs in the business industry with the courses designed by TCS, which are tailored to integrate knowledge straight from the industry to the curriculum of STI’s business-related programs.

STI Vice President for Academics Dr. Lloyd C. Bautista and STI’s Alumni Relations, Placement and Linkages Manager Bambi Asis-Geronimo were present during the event, while STI President Monico V. Jacob was joined by TATA’s Country Manager Vikram Singh in signing the MOA between the two companies. The agreement will strengthen the industry-academic linkages in courseware development and faculty training of STI, which will in turn benefit the academic growth of STI students. These students, who will gain from TCS-Designed Courses, will also serve as TATA’s human capital investment for the future as the courseware itself speeds up the training program, thus presenting a better chance of employment in the company.

TATA is a $132.35 billion company with 32 publicly-listed TATA enterprises, running companies with significant scale such as TATA Steel, TATA Motors, TATA Power, TATA Chemicals, TATA Global Beverages, TATA Teleservices, TATA Communications, Titan, and Taj Majal Hotels. When Bambi Asis-Geronimo was approached by TATA representatives Rajiv Noronha and Anj Backstrom to propose a partnership with STI, the institution was truly privileged to be one of the very few institutions in this country to work with a company as big as TATA.

With the objective to develop Business Process Services and Management as a specialization area in the curriculum offered by STI and boosting the knowledge of STI students about the industry, TCS-Designed Courses aims to support STI in providing the Business and Management program with a full curriculum specializing in Business Process Services and Management. To apply this into the courseware, TCS will conduct a Train the Trainer Program (TTF Program) to teach the TCS-Designed Courses to selected STI faculty members. Upon the successful completion of the program, participating faculty members will be deemed TCS-certified to teach the course and students who will learn from these faculty members will receive a certification as well.

“STI offers a unique value proposition by participating with top global companies in aligning their courseware to international industry requirements. Aside from local industry partners, STI has extended its reach in the global community when it comes to quality education,” Dr. Lloyd Bautista says in a statement.

TATA has also expressed intentions of participating in STI’s mission to nurture job-ready students by taking part in job fairs and internship programs. With this new partnership, STI students are looking at a future of possibilities on increased employment opportunities in the global business industry.
