SLTEC Starts Commercial Operations for 2nd 135MW Unit

Makati—(PHStocks)—South Luzon Thermal Energy Corp. (SLTEC) announces the start of operations of its second 135MW Unit (Unit 2) in Calaca, Batangas, doubling the capacity of the plant and bringing additional power supply to the Luzon grid. The 2 x 135MW coal power plant in Calaca, Batangas utilizes circulating fluidized bed technology (CFB) to reduce emissions and minimize adverse environmental impact.

Construction of Unit 2 was completed in the second half of 2015. It was synchronized to the grid on August 15, 2015 and passed reliability and performance tests early this year.

Unit 1 started commercial operations on April 24, 2015 and achieved gross generation output of 553.8 GWh by the end of 2015. The unit is currently under annual preventive maintenance.
