Semirara Suspends Coal Export Shipments

Makati—(PHStocks)—Semirara Mining and Power Corp. (PSE: SCC) said it is suspending its coal export shipments in response to the directive of the Department of Energy (DOE) to prioritize the requirements of domestic coal consumers, pending the investigation of the cause of the landslide at North Panian last 17 July 2015.

In a statement, Semirara said it has notified its foreign customers that the company cannot schedule further shipments until DOE reaches a decision on the suspension of its mining operations.

Semirara is providing full cooperation and is doing everything it can to manage its limited coal inventory to avert possible supply disruptions to its local power plant and cement customers.
