Profit Taking Pulls Back PH Stocks

Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks were back in the red as investors took whatever profits they could from yesterday’s rebound.

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) slid by 0.82% or 48.97 points to close at 5,937.51 today, 9 January. The biggest decliners included the Financials sector (-2.06%) and the Property index (-1.11%). The Mining and Oil sector ended its four-day rally, shedding 0.42%. The broader All-Shares index lost 0.67%. Nevertheless, the Services sector managed to finish in the green, gaining 0.21%.

Value turnover reached PhP5 billion on 1 billion traded shares. Foreign buying was PhP2.89 billion while foreign selling reached PhP2.77 billion. There were 48 gainers against 93 losers, while 49 stocks were flat.
