PHStocks Week in Review: Steady She Goes

Still fresh from the heels of the recent announcement regarding Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.’s (PSE: TEL) acquisition from JG Summit Holdings Inc. (PSE: JGS) ownership interest in Digital Telecommunications Philippines Inc. (Digitel, PSE: DGTL), the local stock market continued its growth this week, with the main board Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi)  gaining 0.51% or 21.58 points to close at 4,241 points on Friday. On a weekly basis, the PSEi was up 2.7%.

The wider all shares index also continued its uptrend, increasing 0.57% to reach 3,111.41 points. The index grew 2.23% compared last week. All counters were also on a growth track, led by the Property index, which posted a 5.75% gain over last week. The Industrial index followed next, with a 4.49% gain, while the Mining and Oil index finished third, with a 3.38% growth.
