PHStocks Week in Review: PH Stocks End Lower

Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks ended June’s first week of trading up by 1.73% from last week, which saw massive sell-off that drove the index down to 6,600 level.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) closed the session at 6,762.62 today, 6 June, down by 0.14% or 9.82 points from the previous day’s session, but showing stability after recovering from last week’s profit-taking. Only the Industrial sector (+0.11%) and the Mining and Oil index (+0.09%) managed to maintain their levels. Compared last week, the Industrial is the biggest gainer, increasing by 2.52%, while the Services index grew by 2.37%. The Property index declined by 0.13% from last week.

Trading volume reached PhP2.33 billion today, valued at PhP7.85 billion. Foreign buying was PhP3.21 billion while foreign selling reached PhP3.65 billion. For this week, total foreign buying reached PhP17.42 billion, while foreign selling totaled PhP18.23 billion for a net selling of PhP811.7 million.
