PH Stocks Up on IMF’s Positive Forecast

Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks were up for the sixth consecutive trading day, breaching the 6,100-level, on news that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised its GDP forecast for the Philippines to 6.3% from previous estimates of 6%.

The mainboard Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) gained 2% or 120.62 points to close at 6,139.86 today, 22 January. All counters were back in the green, led by the Financials (+2.98%) followed by the Property sector (+2.06%). The wider All Shares index went up by 1.55%.

Trading was heavy today. Volume turnover reached 3.06 billion shares, valued at PhP8.29 billion. Foreign buying was PhP4.34 billion and foreign selling reached PhP4.49 billion. There were 114 gainers today against 60 losers, while 39 stocks were flat.
