PH Stocks Stumble Anew

Manila—(PHStocks)—Philippine stocks erased yesterday’s gains to finish today’s session at almost the same level as last week.

The mainboard Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) went down by 0.64% or 38.37 points to close at 5,947.44 today, 7 January. Most counters were back in the red, led by the Industrials, which shed 1.68%. The Services sector lost 0.65%, while the Holding Firms segment dropped by 0.6%.

Despite this however, one sector continues to sustain its rally. The Mining and Oil index managed to gain 0.4% to close today’s session on the positive side. That was after a 5.12% jump last Friday, and a further 1.05% gain yesterday.

Trading was moderate. Value turnover reached PhP5.1 billion on 739 million traded shares. Foreign buying reached PhP2.77 billion while foreign selling reached PhP3.16 billion. There were 65 gainers against 92 losers, while 35 stocks remained flat.
