PCCI: Industries Face Acute Shortage of Workers

Domestic industries are suffering from acute shortage of qualified workers from accountants, bookkeepers, hotel staff and even construction workers, which they attributed to more people going into entrepreneurial ventures instead of getting employed in companies aside from the issue of skills mismatch.

Ambassador Alfredo Yao, President of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), told reporters at the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between PCCI and the Department of Education (DepEd), that this situation has led to more expensive salary rates.
