Pancake House to Open in Qatar

Manila—(PHStocks)—Max’s Group Inc. (MGI, PSE: MAXS) is bent on increasing its footprint in the Middle East. Pancake House, a homegrown pancake and waffle favorite, is preparing to make its way to Qatar.

MGI recently signed a development agreement with Hamad & Sons General Trading Group to build a minimum of five Pancake House stores in Qatar.

“We are excited to bring another loved brand to Qatar. Our first Max’s Restaurant in Al Saad registered record-breaking sales and remains one of our best performing overseas store. We are optimistic in replicating that success with Pancake House, which will cater not only to the local Filipino diaspora but the mainstream market. We are also confident with our partnership with Hamad & Sons General Trading Group, a well-established Middle Eastern food retailer, to introduce our concept to the Qataris,” said Max’s Group President and CEO Robert F. Trota. “Our international business continues to gain momentum. So far, we are on track to meet our target of 200 stores abroad by 2020, or perhaps even earlier.”

This is the second development agreement sealed by MGI for 2016. Earlier this year, it forged a deal to put up 15 Yellow Cab Pizza stores in China within five years. To date, MGI has inked a total of seven development contracts with a firm commitment of over 50 stores across Max’s Restaurant, Pancake House, Yellow Cab Pizza and Sizzlin’ Steak. On top of its existing 35 outlets, this translates to an international pipeline of at least 85 stores.

“Inquiries from various foreign groups continue to arrive. We are encouraged by the strong interest to export our brands. For this year, we are aggressively eyeing more territories,” according to Peter H. King, Chief Executive Officer for Max’s Group International.

Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Doha, Qatar, Hamad and Sons General Trading Group is a food and beverage restaurant company. The company is the Master Franchisee of Papparoti Café, it owns and operates the brand in Qatar.

Hamad and Sons General Trading Group has embarked upon a tactical growth into the evolving and highly competitive food and beverage sector in Qatar, bringing in unique brands from around the world.

“I can’t embark on to express the excitement we have for being a part of the Pancake House family,” explains Hamad Al-Dosari, Executive President of Hamad and Sons General Trading Group. “We look forward to bringing the most popular casual dining restaurant brand in the Philippines to Qatar, a pioneer in the pancakes and waffle dining
concept with focus on comfort food like fried chicken, fish, tacos, pastas, and spaghetti.

“We know that this culinary delight will work well in Qatar, which hosts a large Filipino community; Pancake House will be a big hit with a chance to present it to other diverse nationalities living in Doha. We believe that the brand will quickly be rated among top restaurants for its adaptable food profile, up market dining and overall experience,” said
Al-Dosari.

At present, Pancake House operates 130 branches including 7 franchised stores located in Malaysia and Brunei.
