Local shares surged Wednesday on upbeat investor sentiment, with the bellwether Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) gaining 0.72% or 27.99 points to break the 3,900-mark and close at 3,926.86 points. The wider all-shares index likewise grew, increasing 0.37% to end Wednesday trading at 2,936.52 points.
All counters are also on an uptrend, with the Property index gaining 1.66%; Financials sector, 1.24%; and Mining & Oil index, 1.13%. Trading volume reached 1.12 billion, valued at PhP5.5 billion, on 13,419 trades.
Gainers led losers 89 to 51, while 27 stocks remain unchanged.
