BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno Swears in New Deputy Governor

Monetary Board Chairman and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP)  Governor Benjamin E. Diokno administered the oath of office today to Francisco G. Dakila, Jr. as Deputy Governor for the Monetary and Economics Sector (MES), succeeding former Deputy Governor Diwa C. Guinigundo. 

As head of the MES, Mr. Dakila will provide overall supervision, management, and direction to monetary and financial policy, international monetary affairs, loans and credit, economic and financial literacy, among others. 

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Dakila served as Assistant Governor for the Monetary Policy Sub-Sector where he provided highly-technical advisory support on matters relating to the formulation, implementation and assessment of policies and programs in the areas of monetary, external, real and financial sectors. 

He worked at the US Agency for International Development and the Agricultural Credit Policy Council before joining the BSP. He also taught at the University of the Philippines and at the De La Salle University. 

Mr. Dakila received his PhD and MA in Economics and BS in Economics (magna cum laude) from the University of the Philippines – School of Economics.

Present during the oath-taking ceremony are Governor Diokno and  his wife Maura G. Dakila.
