Alliance Select Closes Bangkok Sales Office, Integrates Marketing Operations in PH

Alliance Select Foods International Inc. (ASFII, PSE: FOOD) would consolidate its sales and marketing operations in the Philippines after closing its sales office in Bangkok, Thailand.

The company established Alliance Select Foods International (Thailand) Co. Ltd (ASFIT) in May 2004 to tap the network of buyers and brokers who use the country as a base to buy canned tuna at the time.

“The consolidation does not mean that we will no longer be present in Thailand. We will simply expand our marketing capabilities here in our Philippine headquarters from where we can continue fulfilling the functions of the office in Bangkok,” said ASFII President Raymond See.

With the advent of digital technology, maintaining a physical office in Thailand is now unnecessary to the corporation. Moreover, it has gained enough traction to support its sales network and is now in the process of further growing its sales team in the Philippines.

See added, “Our office in Thailand was instrumental to the development of our market and has served its purpose well. We now have a solid network that can be handled through our headquarters here in the Philippines, and the closure is simply part of our plan to innovate and integrate our sales offices.”

The closure of the Bangkok office is part of the streamlining of operations of the corporation, particularly to cut unnecessary expenses.

Alliance Select is engaged in processing, canning and export of canned tuna. The Company exports its canned tuna products to Europe, North America, Asia, Africa, Middle East and South America.

ASFII has significantly grown its business by renewed focus on innovating its product, packaging and processing while streamlining to drive down cost. As of Q3 2018, FOOD delivered topline revenue growth to $74 million, representing a 39% increase versus 2017, and 6x NIAT growth compared to the same reporting period the previous year.
